Hi, my name is Ella
Last year, on August 25, 2013, my mom let me come and second shoot at a wedding in Portland, Oregon. My mom is a natural light photographer, and she mostly takes pictures of families and kids.
(You can learn more about her at www.allysonrandlephotography)
For years now, I had watched my mom edit and take photos of families. And now, she was letting me come with her? To take pictures at a wedding?! I mean, yes I had experience, it's not like she was just inviting me to come to a wedding with her out of the blue, but still, I was SO excited! She let me borrow one of her expensive cameras, and one of her professional lenses. She went over how to focus, just to make sure I knew, she showed me how to view the photos and turn the flash on. I felt so special.
When we showed up to the wedding, she told me to focus on details, while she would focus on the big things. (like mom and dad with the bride, and grandpa with the bride... and all of that complicated stuff.) I took pictures of the flowers outside of the temple where the couple got married, and the shoes of the bride, her bouquet, her hair, and all the small and simple things, that everybody in the wedding party spends so much time and effort preparing. :)
At the end of the wedding I had a couple hundred photos, that I had taken of the wedding. I felt pretty good. The wedding itself was great too! My mom and I ate delicious strawberry crepes, and we also enjoyed the cake that was being served.
From then on, I have shot another wedding, and I am looking forward to shooting another wedding with my mom this upcoming August.
In the future, I hope to have my own business as a photographer.
